My husband is extremely high on my priority list. Afterall, an unhappy marriage = an unhappy Kristy and Adam which in turn = an unhappy sweet little Amaia Ruth. Plus, I actually really love Adam, so it isn't particularly difficult to make him a priority. I tell you all of this because quality time has been harder to come by over the last couple months and that is why I had a surprise date night planned for us last Thursday.
I had the night all planned out and had arranged for my parents to watch Amaia for the evening or so I thought. On Tuesday night, my dad called me and asked if Adam and I were available to go out to dinner with them and my dad's boss at work, because they wanted to meet Adam on Thursday night. Why does he want to meet Adam???....I thought to myself, but didn't think too much of it. I then reminded my dad that we couldn't do it this Thursday, because remember...you are supposed to watch Amaia for me?? Ha...little did I know Adam and I had put my dad in a bit of a difficult situation. We were both trying to surprise one another with a date night and had asked my parents to participate in the surprise. I asked them to watch Amaia in secret so we could have some alone time and Adam had called my dad and asked him to make me think we were meeting them out for dinner so that I would get dressed up, but really it would just be the two of us for dinner. The secrets came out on Tuesday night over dinner. We had a good laugh about it and Adam and I decided to go out to dinner (his surprise plan) for our date night.
I do wish that I would not have interfered with his surprise, but I thought it was so fun that we were trying to surprise one another. We had such a great dinner at Sbrocco. So good! I highly recommend it for a special occasion (it's not cheap). Lately, I am really into balsamic and I always love horseradish, so the filet with horseradish potatoes and balsamic vinegar was music to my tastebuds. I wish I had taken pictures of the evening, but I forgot. Adam had one last "small" surprise of the evening. He gave me the wedding band that goes with my wedding ring!! I was so excited! I knew that he was saving up for it, but didn't really think it would be anytime soon since a large (but completely worth it) expense just entered our lives. And I'm sure that Adam is excited for me to stop bugging him about it. I finally look like a married woman :)

Life
Tomb, thou shalt not hold Him longer;
Death is strong, but Life is stronger;
Stronger than the dark, the light;
Stronger than the wrong, the right;
Faith and Hope triumphant say
Christ will rise on Easter Day.
-Phillips Brooks, An Easter Carol
I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” -Jesus Christ (John 11:25-26)

2 Months: A Letter
My sweet Amaia,
You are 2 months old today and it blows my mind! You are such a good, sweet baby girl and you have grandparents, aunts and friends that love you so much! You are a lucky girl. These past two months have been a whirlwind for our family, but I honestly have a hard time remembering what life was like without you. I love spending my days with you and I don't want to wish my time with you away, but I can't wait until you can talk to me and we can have so many fun times together.
You are getting so big and learning so many things all the time. You are smiling and making all kinds of cute noises for your dad and I. You particularly enjoy laying in your play gym and you make many of your smiles kicking around in there or when dad or I are making funny faces at you. Your smile melts my heart. It really is the highlight of my day every single time. You are such a beautiful girl and even more so when you smile.
In the first month of your life we struggled a little to get you to catch on to breastfeeding and gain weight, but not anymore! Today you weighed in at 10 lbs. 12 oz. I was amazed! Just last week we went to a breastfeeding class at the hospital and you weighed almost a pound less than that. Good job girly! You are in the 50th percentile for your weight and the 75th percentile for your height at 22.75 inches. I think you are going to be tall!
You also had to get your first set of shots since you were born today and you did so great. All of the nurses and your doctor commented at how good and sweet you were as they poked and prodded you. You were laying there so peacefully until the nurses gave you your shots and then you immediately turned red and started crying. You calmed down pretty quickly after I had you in my arms, but it just broke my heart!! I wanted to take you out for an ice cream treat after that because you were such a tough girl....someday we will do that together!
You have also started sleeping through the night as of last week. Thank you!! I really appreciate it! You are usually sleeping 6-8 hours at night now, which means I am too and it does the body good for the both of us. You also take several hour long naps during the day and you are a happy baby girl most of the time. You do usually cry more in the evening, but I know as you grow up you will grow out of that.
We love you so much my little sweetie p! I can't wait to get to know you more and more!

A Few of My Favorite Things
1. My pretty, pretty princess!
2. Being crafty!! I have always had the inner urge to be crafty, but to be honest it doesn't usually turn out super well for me. This time though I think I actually made something cute. And it feels great to have something springy up on such a cold, rainy day.
3. Sleep! Amaia started sleeping through the night this week. Hallelujah! I hope that I am not jinxing anything by writing this, but she slept 7-8 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday night. We took a step back and only slept 6 hours last night, but I still feel like a new woman. Maybe babywise really is working.
4. Birthday shoes! So....my birthday was almost 3 months ago, but I just got around to spending some birthday money. They are so comfy (and cute of course). Good mom shoes I guess.
5. Last but certainly not least, my wonderful husband!! He surprised me with an ipod touch this week. My old one gave way a month or so a go so I was so excited! Plus, he was frugal about it - a man after my own heart.

Baby Brain Randomness Part Two
I could not be more thankful that my coffee consumption does not seem to affect Amaia. I really need my coffee right now!
Amaia, I and some friends played dress up for the first time last night via a game of Pretty, Pretty Princess. It was kind of priceless. Pictures to come :)
My little girl is growing up. She is making more new faces all the time and new sounds. She makes a sound that sounds a lot like "hi". Do you think it's possible that my baby is speaking her first word at 6 weeks?? Yeah, I doubt it :) She has also developed a daily pooping time, which from what I read means that her intestines are maturing.
My baby is also kind of going bald at any early age. Just kidding really....but I am excited for her hair to start growing back. Does any one know when that is supposed to happen?
I kind of want to become an extreme couponer!
I apparently still have some form of baby brain. I searched for a recipe for a good 15 mins. the other night and then questioned Adam about where he had moved it to, only to find it in my recipe box and its rightful place. I am fairly positive that I put it there just the day before but didn't remember. I promise that I used to have a memory. goodness gracious.
