It's officially spring in Iowa and we are loving it! All of my kids love being outside and let's be honest the fresh air and sunshine is therapeutic to me too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

We celebrated Easter only about a month ago, but it seems like ages ago already. The kids and I made these sunset paintings and then cut out three crosses to glue on top and read the story in their Bible. Amaia particularly enjoyed this, because my big girl could paint for days on end and not get tired of it :) We also made palm branches out of paper and found a kid's worship song entitled "Hosanna" and danced and sang along. It was so fun and all 3 kids really enjoyed it, which is hard to find in an activity. On good Friday we washed each others feet and talked about Jesus' example in doing that and they also enjoyed that more than I expected. I love traditions and really value them so I hope that some of these things become something that we look forward to every year. On Easter we went to church on Saturday at our regular service and then had some family over for a casual lunch on Sunday.</div>

One thing that I have learned about Haddon this spring is that he is absolutely fascinated by worms! I fear the day that he picks one up and brings it into my house or puts it right into my face. Ha ha. In March we did a lot of jumping in puddles and exploring nature. I'm a just a city girl trying to encourage my kids to love the outdoors :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In March we had a really wonderful visit from Grammie and Amaia was gifted her first big girl bike, which she loves! She has been faithfully practicing since that day. She is definitely slow and cautious like her mama, but I can already tell that her skills have improved. Lately when we have going on walks in the evening she rides along with us.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The past week or two it has been pretty warm and we have been all about the park! My sweet little baby Vera does not enjoy being carried around or pushed around in a stroller at the park anymore, which is VERY dirty because she is not walking yet, but the experts seem to say that dirt is good for you :) I have been really trying to encourage a lot of walking practice at home with her, because I do hate crawling outside. I really think that she could walk and she will occasionally take a step or two on her own, but she is currently not so interested and prefers crawling. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And lastly, my sweet Haddon mowing the lawn along side his daddy. Adam was mowing the lawn and Haddon said "I want to mow like daddy" and then proceeded to run into the garage and get his lawn mower too. It was a really sweet moment and I'm thankful that Aunt Ash grabbed a picture for us, because Haddon is normally too cool for school when it comes to picture taking.</div>

My baby girl turned 5! All Amaia wanted for her birthday is to have friends over and eat cake. It's the simple things! So we planned a simple party for Saturday with friends and on her actual birthday (Friday) she chose to go out on a breakfast date with daddy and then on a Starbucks date with mommy. I asked her a few days after the fact what was her favorite part of her birthday celebrations and it wasn't the cake or the unicorn present or the balloons, it was going on dates with mommy and daddy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHF-8qsP6d4efb8y3KsEkiQ_v2uZh0WxLx4kX-L0liqb7XlY91egN1VqXj0XNCicm3WpwTCF7B-ZM6z1UzdfkthsFAqFEexc2Gi39WzUXT5iOvgJuyYdboGPbxSXsC0OMbHIignvhHx2fV/s1600/IMG_1349.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHF-8qsP6d4efb8y3KsEkiQ_v2uZh0WxLx4kX-L0liqb7XlY91egN1VqXj0XNCicm3WpwTCF7B-ZM6z1UzdfkthsFAqFEexc2Gi39WzUXT5iOvgJuyYdboGPbxSXsC0OMbHIignvhHx2fV/s400/IMG_1349.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Here we are on on our coffee date. The birthday girl got a cake pop and hot chocolate and we chatted and played the Frozen memory game, which we tied fair and square. I do not know why we have not done this before, because it was SO fun. We are definitely going to have to start doing this more often.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't get a lot of pictures of her friend party because lots and lots of children at my house requires attention! But we had the rare of opportunity of playing outside because it was so nice out! We played a few games outside, which didn't go as I had planed, but the kids still seemed to have a lot of fun and got to run out some energy. Then we came inside for presents, pizza and cake. Amaia chose this birthday cake with the princesses on it so that she could keep the dolls for playing with later on. Turning 5 seems like such a big milestone to me and it was really fun celebrating our sweet girl.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are a few things I want to remember about my beautiful 5 year old:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She loves all things princess and super hero equally. She chose an Avengers balloon for her birthday this year and is always imagining new super heroes and telling me about them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is one smart lady. She is already reading very well and has the imagination and memory to match.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is still one tall lady - in 90 percentile for height.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She loves her friends. All she wanted for her birthday was to have friends over, and seemingly everything she looks forward to (church, school, etc.) is just because she wants to see her friends.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The week of her birthday she started waking up VERY early in the morning, so we have officially transitioned to a quiet time in the afternoon instead of a nap time, which she is handling wonderfully. She plays and reads quietly and occasionally still falls asleep.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am so excited to celebrate her, but also sad to say goodbye to her baby days. Vera has been such an easy going and sweet baby and I can already tell that she wants to get in the mix of all the crazy antics of her brother and sister!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUOX_QBDF2P-5d8WXp5zh4pFg378l9VfPhY1SzsYqGj1F-k6VeJ6AR9iWDpY9zbrsiRSjbYmqtfnElmu3jeaKIut6203pUFa1Cd1KUmonYQjT_Ucd52eh8Um1_vKrENx71r5k8Eb7qtyXK/s1600/IMG_1139.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUOX_QBDF2P-5d8WXp5zh4pFg378l9VfPhY1SzsYqGj1F-k6VeJ6AR9iWDpY9zbrsiRSjbYmqtfnElmu3jeaKIut6203pUFa1Cd1KUmonYQjT_Ucd52eh8Um1_vKrENx71r5k8Eb7qtyXK/s400/IMG_1139.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At one year old Vera is sleeping from 8pm until 830 am. She takes two naps a day, but I think she is ready to switch to one longer afternoon nap. She is a great eater and eats whatever I give her. The only thing that she has refused was avocado, but I think that was based on texture, because she really seems to enjoy it now. She has been on 3 meals a day for a while now, with an extra before bed nursing session, during which she is usually VERY distracted so I fear our nursing days may be limited. As much as nursing can be hard and time consuming some times I also love it and am going to miss it!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Just this week she started pulling up the stand a ton! She thankfully also mastered bending those cute little legs to get back down from a standing position quickly. She enjoys dumping everything out, pulling books off the shelves and I have dubbed her my sweet little tornado. She is also excellent at mimicking. I don't remember this with my older two (but maybe I just don't remember) but she is very good at watching a repeating sounds and movements that we do. She is also clearly saying "mama" and "hi" and maybe "bye bye".<br />
<br /></div>
<div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Last night we celebrated her birthday with some family and good friends and it was SO MUCH FUN. Vera was a little bit on the fence about all the people at our house until I gave her her cupcake and then she was all smiles from there on out. <br />

I recently wrote out the story of the health struggles we went through with Haddon during his first year. My big 3 year old is now is the 60th percentile for both height and weight, which feels like a big accomplishment for both of us that needs to be recorded!! I'm so thankful for my little boy and everything he teaches me! He certainly has challenged me, but all of the struggles have been so good for me heart and perspective on life and parenting, so I wanted to share.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When Haddon was born he was perfect, even the doctors
agreed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It was at his two-week well
check that his pediatrician heard a heart murmur and sent us to see a pediatric
cardiologist.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My sweet little baby had a
ventricular septal defect (VSD) or a hole in his heart.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My heart dropped upon hearing this and true
to form I was full of worries, but we were sent home with a list of symptoms to
look for and the reassurance that he would likely be just fine.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He was growing well, eating well and a
content little boy, but many questions lingered in my mind.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Did I do something to cause this?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Was it my fault?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The doctors said this just happens sometimes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>No reason given.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>No cause.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When he was around six months old his weight gain started
dropping off.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He was happy and content,
but also VERY skinny. He didn’t sit up until a few months later than my
first-born and wasn’t making any attempts at crawling, but I knew that all kids
develop differently.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He was a great
eater. I was amazed that he never refused a single food I gave him, but every
time I gave him a bath and saw how skinny he was there was a pit in my
stomach.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I listened to others coo over
their chubby babies and my worries and questions constantly circled around in
my mind.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When he was a year old, I felt
that something wasn’t right and talked to his doctor about it, which was
followed by countless tests and doctor’s visits.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It felt like all I did that winter was take
Haddon to the pediatrician, neurologist, physical therapist, hospital for testing, etc, etc.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the end,
we were told that he had hypotonia or muscle weakness, but again no cause.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My mind again immediately went to all the
questions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Was this my fault?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Did I do this to sweet baby boy?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Did I drink too much coffee during pregnancy?
Is it because I am getting older?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Should
I have stopped breastfeeding?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What did I
do wrong? I questioned myself on everything.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
After he turned 1, a physical therapist with the AEA started
coming to our house for weekly therapy.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>She worked with him and gave me things to do with him to improve his
strength and get him moving. I also met with a dietician who told me I was
doing everything right.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He started
walking at about 20 months and is now a fast and fun-loving almost 3-year-old
boy.<o:p></o:p></div>

I’m so thankful for Haddon’s doctors and physical

hard.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I don’t even want him to be the

<br />
I think that I will always feel a little bit bad that his birthday is so close to Christmas. I always want to make sure that we fully celebrate our little man. This year we had a few gifts and Thomas the Train cupcakes at home and then in the evening we went on the Santa Express Train, which was so fun! Haddon and Amaia both fully enjoyed themselves. We rode to the "North Pole", had hot cocoa and cookies, sang Christmas carols, and met Santa Claus.<br />

<div>
<br />
<br />
A few things I want to remember about my boy at 3 years old.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
*He is FULL of hugs and kisses. He is by far my best cuddler.</div>
<div>
*When he is mad at me for telling him no about something he says "I'm going to put mommy in jail!"<br />
*He often (and completely randomly) says throughout the day "mommy, you are so cute!" or "mommy, I love you". </div>
<div>
*He loves wheels. Anything with wheels is his favorite thing and must be examined.<br />
*He takes all of his toys apart or at least tries to. Our gift to him was a car and drill set that was made to be taken apart and put back together.</div>
<div>
*He often asks me if he can be loud and then proceeds to sing and talk as loud as possible.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>

Thanksgiving was just yesterday, right?! I don't know how it got be December because I swear we were going to the splash pad just last week, but the weeks and months just keep flying by.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This year for Thanksgiving we traveled to the Horning's to stay for the week. As per usual we were generally spoiled and fed very well. My kids did not want to come home! Personally I really enjoyed the girl time with Adam's mom and sister and creating some fun memories as a family.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the days before Thanksgiving we went to Silver Dollar City to see all of their amazing Christmas lights and a Christmas parade. Their Christmas production was actually very Christ centered and all of the lights were so fun, but a lot of other people apparently thought so too. There were SO many people, but Amaia really enjoyed the parade and lights and has been performing Christmas parades for me ever since.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz7YZVrbjz4W865YiCenhMtltaJTM8paJuZRdvhHlxDPrUTslhePCRNxGv0GDtkV192NUiwS_ttBu7JbFv1GrfMOV0ee8jIgGMuw549dc8nzS2KWWP7sYmhFDmC4oU79PZjz_QYKUX5lFb/s1600/IMG_7291.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz7YZVrbjz4W865YiCenhMtltaJTM8paJuZRdvhHlxDPrUTslhePCRNxGv0GDtkV192NUiwS_ttBu7JbFv1GrfMOV0ee8jIgGMuw549dc8nzS2KWWP7sYmhFDmC4oU79PZjz_QYKUX5lFb/s400/IMG_7291.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On Thanksgiving morning it was 60 degrees!! I was very thankful for that, coming out of 6 inches of snow at home just the week before. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On "Black Friday" just the girls (minus Vera) went shopping. I hope it's the start of a new tradition because it was so fun. Amaia came with us and was a shopping champ! She was so patient during all of the big girl shopping and I was so impressed with her. She is becoming such a big girl *tear*</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Vera started waving during our trip and it is basically the cutest thing I've ever seen. Until she started clapping and crawling this week. She just keeps upping her cute game. This is her and Ashley during the Hawkeye game, in which they completed a perfect regular season!!</div>

It was a great Thanksgiving!</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFDFw-7MMxbYYUbf_Ov008-lWIcLphY6oeM86yP5Xvjn9XQS4U2A8mCGeHsw2jZ6TdAxSVjuWQxRY57nHbxsuYE9b0Bzwifomsr_7IhxCGSd46zeB1VPiatgWR19c_iHzOkzSMKuGUrxHi/s1600/IMG_6049.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFDFw-7MMxbYYUbf_Ov008-lWIcLphY6oeM86yP5Xvjn9XQS4U2A8mCGeHsw2jZ6TdAxSVjuWQxRY57nHbxsuYE9b0Bzwifomsr_7IhxCGSd46zeB1VPiatgWR19c_iHzOkzSMKuGUrxHi/s400/IMG_6049.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My sweet little Vera is 8 months old now! That seems so old! It's crazy to me how time flies. Vera is the sweetest little baby. I feel so blessed to have her in our family. I think I can truly say I have thoroughly enjoyed her babyhood. She is growing up so fast. These posts are mostly for my own memory keeping and enjoyment so here we go...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
According to my scale at home she is about 18 pounds now and wearing mostly 9 month clothes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just in past week she has started sleeping until about 6-7 in the morning, prior to that is was more in the 4-5 range, but I think we have made a breakthrough! She takes two naps a day now and is officially on a four hour schedule, eating in the early morning, 9 am, 12:30, 5, and 8 for bedtime. Her nap in the afternoon is shorter than I would prefer, but she is still so happy when she is up and I kind of enjoy our alone time before the crazy big kids get up from their nap.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is sitting really well now! She really only falls over when her sibling "hug" her aka. knock her over. Poor kid. ha. She is not a fan of tummy time so I don't think we are anywhere close to crawling, which is great in my opinion! She has recently started flipping to her tummy during sleep and is not a fan of that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We have been on 3 meals a day of solids for a while now. Vera loves almost every veggie I have given her, but is not sure about fruits. I think it is a texture issue. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She has one bottom tooth just starting to poke through.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is loves banging toys around, putting everything in her mouth and watching her siblings. She laughs for Amaia much easier than me. She has started babbling more and mimicking sounds a bit and I am trying my hardest to get her to say "mama" but it hasn't happened yet. She is happy little lady, but doesn't like being left alone and protests if she can't see me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there you go - 8 months of sweet miss Vera!</div>
<br />Kristyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18327393579083833282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4825607594925697789.post-68634244615880955672015-09-25T08:13:00.001-05:002015-09-25T08:13:43.389-05:00The most wonderful time of the year!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">We love fall in our house. I love the crisp mornings and warm afternoons, all the wonderful fall food and drinks and the activities that come with fall. Adam loves the return of football and we share a love of all things pumpkin!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
On labor day weekend we took a little road trip with just baby Vera to IKEA to purchase a bookcase I wanted and of course had to celebrate with the first pumpkin spice latte of the season. Sadly, I have yet to have another PSL this season :( I don't make it to coffee shops so often these days, but I digress.... It was really fun to have some time to talk and IKEA was a shopping experience like no other, but I love our new bookcase.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqTGxg6o1U-kSkOWMZnBDA4VjPfLaOU2-iVIS55z4XqTy7qAhZ_rXdvTyzQLApCaVQR6vH7wsgEt36tTTfCzcX8Gs7NvHXQsEnp_k9RQMIQZKxKJ9E51OJ0Isl0LF9AhnOw12TLBnZlpyt/s1600/IMG_5906.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqTGxg6o1U-kSkOWMZnBDA4VjPfLaOU2-iVIS55z4XqTy7qAhZ_rXdvTyzQLApCaVQR6vH7wsgEt36tTTfCzcX8Gs7NvHXQsEnp_k9RQMIQZKxKJ9E51OJ0Isl0LF9AhnOw12TLBnZlpyt/s400/IMG_5906.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Amaia is really into dressing up and costumes in general lately, so it was really hard for her to decide what she wanted to be for Halloween this year. She has been really into Wonder Woman and super heroes in general lately, but we finally landed on being Elsa again this year. Aren't these sisters the sweetest?! At this point in Haddon's life he basically wants whatever his big sister tells him he wants much of the time, so he is going to be Olaf, but Haddon isn't a fan of the mamarazzi sometimes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiasldUYEUxgtgpPxkE6grjTxxrkBomSNr-a4gKDWyvzjDg-Mm9j_fFn1WcAz8Nds0_HSRlS29cL_ljptWN4shKNCsZsGK_2y91t4NqfE31jBlgYbPLNTJdlAVunEXwdOmdFpxLYvfTjaPX/s1600/IMG_6082.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiasldUYEUxgtgpPxkE6grjTxxrkBomSNr-a4gKDWyvzjDg-Mm9j_fFn1WcAz8Nds0_HSRlS29cL_ljptWN4shKNCsZsGK_2y91t4NqfE31jBlgYbPLNTJdlAVunEXwdOmdFpxLYvfTjaPX/s400/IMG_6082.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We painted pumpkins! I let both Haddon and Amaia paint with non-washable paint, which i was nervous about, but they both loved this little project and it kept them busy for quite some time.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifMfxmkQh1kSP-y37YFg-XnLOXGkZVzIMM1aR4aayhyhcvuAWt-QCHtlxSP832zl3OqQVLMpXN3uh9v9_6__DNEPbZFBDJL0z4_HqgBYWfts5b18awaJvWrxgt9geYeSmhIsi1l_B4Rq3A/s1600/IMG_6090.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifMfxmkQh1kSP-y37YFg-XnLOXGkZVzIMM1aR4aayhyhcvuAWt-QCHtlxSP832zl3OqQVLMpXN3uh9v9_6__DNEPbZFBDJL0z4_HqgBYWfts5b18awaJvWrxgt9geYeSmhIsi1l_B4Rq3A/s400/IMG_6090.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
One gorgeous fall morning we went to the park to find "treasures". We found leaves, acorns, walnuts and lots of other things. Our little nature lover Haddon really enjoyed this activity. We made pictures and researched some of our items when we got home. Amaia called her picture a fall kingdom where every day is fall! Clearly I have rubbed off on her a little bit. I think Haddon could have walked around finding treasures until his bag broke. He has really been learning a lot lately and is all of the sudden very interested in learning his letters. It seems like a few weeks ago he knew about half of the alphabet and now he practically knows all of the capital letters. It is so fun to see these little minds learning so much.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD9aW8pngCjcP8A7jexjYhOEZCQRGW9HNMSrjQCe0tO-8t0D097-61BfPLWq6I6O4tZ3P3Nai2zszYeYaAU1O_61afZydlYAP5Z8Z4i6-tAz3m81-rShvmMObDpSWQ-Ui2NwhZal2iuxxB/s1600/IMG_6116.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD9aW8pngCjcP8A7jexjYhOEZCQRGW9HNMSrjQCe0tO-8t0D097-61BfPLWq6I6O4tZ3P3Nai2zszYeYaAU1O_61afZydlYAP5Z8Z4i6-tAz3m81-rShvmMObDpSWQ-Ui2NwhZal2iuxxB/s400/IMG_6116.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last Saturday morning we all (including Aunt Ashley) got to go to a farm to pick apples and raspberries and also got to go on a hay rack ride. The weather was perfect and I think everyone really enjoyed it. Haddon in particular really enjoyed picking the fruit and eating the fruit. Haddon takes after his Aunt Jessica and when he eats and apple he eats everything but the stem if you let him.</div>

My sweet Vera was along for the ride. After a bad trip to the grocery store, during which Haddon terrorized Vera in the cart for our entire trip, I took up baby wearing! I got this carrier at a garage sale last summer and I find it so much easier than the moby wrap. I think Vera and I both kind of love it. </div>

My little lady is 6 months old! We love this little sweetie pie so much. I barely remember what life was like without her. She is sweet and smiley and darn near perfect. I truly don't want this kid to grow up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She is still on a 3 hour schedule during the day, but I think she is close to being ready to move to a 4 hour schedule, so we might work on that soon. She sleeps from 8 at night until about 5 or 6 in the morning and takes 3 naps a day. We started solids a few weeks ago and she loved it from the first bite, which amazed me. She might be my best eater yet. We have had sweet potatoes and peas so far and it's a messy but fun experience.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She is getting quite good at sitting up now. She can sit on her own for a minute or so before falling over and I can tell she really enjoys it. She loves splashing in the bath, jumping in her jumper, watching her big brother and sister, making crazy noises and smiling at whoever is talking to her. She loves her mommy, but will go to most anyone else happily and is taking a bottle really well now too!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm just quite simply over the moon about my little lady.</div>

The last week of July we took a trip down to Tablerock Lake to visit Grammie and Papa Stan. It was a wonderful and quite close to perfect getaway. We ate very well and we all had a great time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are a few highlights:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Amaia and Haddon went out on the boat with us one day. Haddon was unimpressed (I think because we made him wear a life jacket the whole time) but we did convince Amaia to jump in the lake for a little while. She didn't last too long in the deep water, but really enjoyed the boat ride.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzEgc92lXPEPeiBeYJuo62HVuTfsGBK6VByJjqQktq8xeZwzPvLSKSjryQV_2C-KISrcCNNsXB_8-gCYQS6NiKAvrCnm3oY1dz-svY88-7OInq_GOWLm_rBjL2doYdDS8m8qJnYbgdVcPL/s1600/IMG_5291.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzEgc92lXPEPeiBeYJuo62HVuTfsGBK6VByJjqQktq8xeZwzPvLSKSjryQV_2C-KISrcCNNsXB_8-gCYQS6NiKAvrCnm3oY1dz-svY88-7OInq_GOWLm_rBjL2doYdDS8m8qJnYbgdVcPL/s400/IMG_5291.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The big kids (myself, Adam and Ashley) went out on the boat with Papa Stan several times on our own thanks to Grammie staying with the kiddos. It was so relaxing and refreshing to me. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We went to Silver Dollar City one morning and Amaia loved it! She couldn't get enough of all the rides. She went on a water ride with all of us and lots of kids rides, including a roller coaster. She is turning into such a big girl right before my eyes!</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The day at Silver Dollar City was also VERY hot! Luckily, Aunt Ashley is awesome and Vera is pretty awesome too. She was a trooper and a cutie pie.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All of Haddon's dreams came true and he got to ride on Papa Stan's tractor a couple times.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have decided that the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. We are so thankful for the freedom that we have in our country AND it is holiday with no pressure, no required preparations, just fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We decided to forego the crazy Urbandale parade this year and tried a small town one and it was a great decision. Haddon loved all the firetrucks and tractors, though Vera didn't really appreciate the loud sirens :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Amaia loved the candy that they threw at her!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After the parade, Adam grilled us some lunch and we had a relaxing afternoon at home until our air conditioning broke. I was VERY thankful that it ended up being an easy fix and we were back in the cool air in a matter of hours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After church we went to my parents house to watch fireworks. We let Haddon and Amaia both stay up late this year and they both loved it. Haddon's reaction was so cute! We was amazed and kept saying "whoa!". It was a great fun day together!</div>

<br />
<br />
I can't believe this kid is nearly two and a half! He has taught me so much in his young little life about life and what is important and my own faith. He can be a challenging little two year old but he is also the sweetest, most affectionate little boy full of hugs and kisses and sweetness. Here are some things I want to remember about Haddon at this age...<br />
<br />
He loves trucks, trains, cars and all things with wheels. If a car is parked he wants to know why it isn't going and he creates "garages" all over the house to park his cars in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZMaYAUsp4BAU6uK4UL3d48Xx7WaU98iWIAeq7m6HXudStC4NkTrjc2bxpJKEcszxX9axVq6sfw40lkqUJW9QTG-MFaSwAceIa1AVYQLcctZ62Qw4FH4mWGI4tGPvlIWUcp_T1uBad5JVU/s1600/IMG_3489.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZMaYAUsp4BAU6uK4UL3d48Xx7WaU98iWIAeq7m6HXudStC4NkTrjc2bxpJKEcszxX9axVq6sfw40lkqUJW9QTG-MFaSwAceIa1AVYQLcctZ62Qw4FH4mWGI4tGPvlIWUcp_T1uBad5JVU/s400/IMG_3489.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
He is particular like his daddy. If his pillows are not the right way, he fixes them. If the books are backwards on the bookshelf, he fixes them. If there are crumbs on the floor or on his highchair tray, he cleans them and he does not like to have messy hands! I sure do hope this trait lasts into his teen years :)<br />
<br />
He must give me a kiss on the cheek every night before bed. He insists upon it!<br />
<br />
He loves his sisters! He wants to do everything his big sister does and tries to tackle her all day long, though I'm not so sure she sees that as loving :) He loves his baby Vera too and is getting good and saying her name. He loves to lay next to her, bring her toys and lay on top of her, though again, I'm not so sure she sees that as a loving gesture. Ha.<br />
<br />
Every time I pick him up from the nursery after church he runs into my arms with the biggest smile as if we haven't seen each other for weeks and I definitely don't want to forget that!<br />
<br />
<br />

This beautiful little lady is 4 months old!! I don't know if it's my perspective or if she is the best baby ever (probably a combination of both), but she is SO easy She is happy and content nearly all the time, loves her siblings, and gives loads of sweet smiles every day. If I could make her stay this age forever I think I probably would.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Like all my children she started waking up in the middle of the night again right when she turned 4 months, but we are back to sleeping until 4-6 in the morning again, which is amazing! During the day she eats on a 3 hour schedule and is an eating champ other than the fact that she is getting very distractible.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We visited the doctor last week and she is perfect as can be. The doctor also did not hear a heart murmur anymore!! We won't know for sure until we visit the cardiologist, but the hole in her heart and likely very small or completely gone now.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Our little lady is 2 months old! I've said it before, but the baby stage just gets sweeter every time. Though I would not mind getting some more continuous sleep, most nights I honestly don't mind getting up with her, because she is just so darn sweet and there is probably nothing better than snuggling with a sleepy baby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sadly, on her 2 month birthday miss Vera and I were battling the stomach flu, so we didn't make it to the doctor until a week later. But, at 2 months + 1 week she was 11 lbs 12 oz, 50% for weight, 60% for height and 99% for head circumference. All of my babies seem to have very large heads :) She is smiling now (!!!!), cooing and being all kinds of sweet. She was sleeping for about 8-9 hours at night, but then that nasty stomach bug hit us and messed everything up, so we we are working towards that again. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I feel like I am starting to get my groove back in terms of getting out and about with all three kiddos. Vera didn't sleep well out and about in her carseat until the last few weeks. It's a little strange but wonderful that she is doing this better as she has gotten older, so we have been getting out and about again and I believe I have even mastered getting groceries with all three in tow. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The comment I hear about her most often is that she looks lot like Amaia and I agree. Sometimes I almost call her Amaia. Ha. And if she ends up looking a lot like Amaia as she grows older I think that will be perfect, because Amaia adores her baby sissy. I call her my baby whisperer, because she enjoys her so much and is quite good at talking to her and keeping her happy when I need a few minutes before feeding her. One thing that this girl will never be lacking in is love and attention.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My baby turned 4 years old this month! She is a certified big girl now and I don't know how that happened! Amaia's birthday was an emotional day for me - filled with joy with the girl she has become and sadness that she is getting so big. Seriously, she is growing up really, really fast! She is so smart and mature and wonderful and joyful and silly and sweet. She is such a great helper for me around the house these days and is already an excellent big sister.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Amaia is currently VERY enamored with all things Frozen so it was only natural that we had a Frozen themed birthday this year. Honestly, we played it low key with the birthday celebrations for her this year because well I just had a baby and really all she wanted was to eat cake, open presents and play with her friends.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the day of her birthday, my big 4 year old woke up to a couple of Frozen balloons. We went to the science center to play and see grandma at her request.</div>

Then on Saturday we hosted our first kid birthday party! We watched Frozen, ate pizza and cupcakes and the kids played. We also played pin the nose on the Olaf, though I learned that little kids aren't so big on wearing a blindfold so it was a pretty easy game!</div>

It feels like so long ago that she wasn't a part of our family to me. She is one well loved little lady. I have decided that thus far the most challenging part of having three children in protecting Vera from the intense love of her older siblings. They LOVE her a lot, but the art of gentleness has not yet been perfected in them. Amaia loves to talk to her and hold her and Haddon loves to bring her toys, give her hugs and tries to sneak up to her room if he hears her crying. I think he is going to make a great big brother.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW2-cxfTG8IdetMb0pScLj_CRLYPQHiqsQQ-JHsQ8vS_Nv6uTVsp-bFDcD1ti7-ylOdJY1RSuavLBLbQ2DQjwPQa9xMZMWUy9JCoRyosR_PNG6QBQTDz_yl52QE8Wh5BXabTNMDl2nWk7u/s1600/IMG_2704.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW2-cxfTG8IdetMb0pScLj_CRLYPQHiqsQQ-JHsQ8vS_Nv6uTVsp-bFDcD1ti7-ylOdJY1RSuavLBLbQ2DQjwPQa9xMZMWUy9JCoRyosR_PNG6QBQTDz_yl52QE8Wh5BXabTNMDl2nWk7u/s1600/IMG_2704.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We visited the cardiologist when she was just a few days old and found that her VSD is very similar to what Haddon had. It is about the same size and in the same place as well. So far she has been doing great and hasn't shown any signs of it affecting her, so we are hopeful that it will be a non-issue for her. <br />
<br />
Vera is the sweetest of little babies. I think I enjoy each baby a little bit more. So far she has proven to be a great little sleeper and eater. She is on a pretty consistent 3 hour eating schedule during the day and then usually goes a couple of 4 hour stretches at night. She had the 9-midnight fussy time just like her siblings before her, but she has gone to sleep great at about 10 for the past few nights so I'm crossing my fingers that we are past that stage!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
We visited the doctor for her 2 week check-up yesterday and she is gaining weight like a champ, which takes a weight of worry off my shoulders and allows me to let her sleep longer at night if she will - hooray!! She weighed 9 lbs 9 oz, 20.5 Inches long and her head circumference was 15 inches. All of my babies have very large heads :)<br />

I was four days past my due date, but had been feeling like I could have a baby any day for weeks. Because we found out early on in my pregnancy that Vera also had a VSD, we had an ultrasound every month to monitor her growth and health. At every ultrasound she measured about a week ahead of schedule and on January 2nd an ultrasound estimated that she was already 9 lbs 6 oz. All of this to say, I was very ready to meet her on the outside of the womb and getting a little anxious about how my labor might go if she was truly that big.<div>
<br /><div>
Other than my anxiousness of wanting to have a baby it was a really nice day. Adam watched Amaia and Haddon in the morning while I leisurely wandered around Target and got a few things that we needed. When I got home I finished making a heart wreath for Valentine's day as my last nesting urge and took a nice nap in the afternoon. Looking back upon it, it was the perfect way to spend my last day before the craziness of welcoming a new baby into our family. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At about 4:30 in the afternoon I was starting to get myself and the kids ready for church and started feeling some contractions that felt different to me. This is the first pregnancy that I have been very aware of lots of braxton hicks contractions, which made me unsure if this was the start of true labor or not, so I continued getting ready for church and just tried to pay attention to what was going with my body. By the time that we were supposed to go to church I still was not sure what was happening, but decided to stay home from church just in case and continue to pay attention to my body. I started writing down the times of my contractions and they were 10 minutes apart, so I started packing a bag for the kids and called my parents to let them know what was going on. Adam was playing in the band at church and as I became more confident I told him that he should probably come home after he played the first set. My parents arrived to pick up the kids around 7:30 and we said our goodbyes. After that my contractions were still fairly mild and I was feeling really tired so I laid down on the couch for while and my contractions slowed down even more. We decided to go on a short walk outside to see if my contractions would pick up. It was a very short walk due to the cold, but my contractions almost immediately picked up to about 4 mins apart and were starting to become painful, so I called the midwives and we were off to the hospital!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We arrived at the hospital a about 11 on Saturday night and got checked in. The nurse checked us in and said I was about 4 cm dilated, which was disappointing to me. However, that still meant that we were staying and having a baby tonight! My expectation was that this labor would go quickly this time around so I was really surprised that I was not further along, but I ended up dilating from 4 to a 6 to an 8 pretty quickly by just walking around and trying out some different positions that our midwife had suggested. The difficult part about this labor was that I stayed dilated at a 9 or 9 1/2 for what seemed like a very long time to me, which isn't a great place to be stuck :) But then I rolled to my left side and had one contraction that was VERY different than all others that had come before it and I was ready to push. This happened at 2:14 am and then I pushed through one contraction and our little girl was born at 2:18 am! The first thing I remember about her was how pink she was when she was born. The nurses called her "red lobster". She had the cord wrapped around her body twice, so we are so thankful that didn't cause any problems. Apparently everything about this pregnancy was larger for some reason. I had a high amount of amniotic fluid, Vera was larger, my the cord was extra long and the placenta was large. Vera was a pound larger than Amaia and Haddon, but I actually found this labor to the be the easiest on my body. The only thing that made it more difficult I think was my expectation for things to go more quickly than they did. I successfully naturally birthed a 9 lb baby!</div>

And then we finally got to do this...</div>

I went into labor around 5pm on Saturday night and she was born early Sunday morning. I'm very thankful that everything with her labor went smoothly and now she is here and I can put that behind me :) The first thing I noticed about her is how pink she was right after she was born. The nurses all called her "red lobster". She is a sweetie pie and was well worth the wait.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We had a wonderful Christmas week with no major sicknesses, lots of family time and lots of food! We hosted most festivities at our house this year, but my wonderful husband and family did so much of the work and took sympathy on my pregnant state, which I was so very thankful for. Unfourtunately, I realized that as Christmas gets busier with little people running around and hosting at our house my remembrance of taking pictures has significantly decreased. So, I need to work on that, but I did manage some.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On Christmas eve we were with Adam's family and had a nice dinner and then went to church at the downtown church. Going to church on Christmas Eve was the one thing that was really important to me. I knew it would be chaotic (mostly due to a crazy 2-year old little boy) but I really want this to be a family tradition for us, so I wanted to make it work. Adam was my hero and chased Haddon around during the whole service and I got to sit with this cute girl. This was her first time holding the candle and she did a great job, until she thought it would be fun to turn around and try blowing out other people's candles. Ha. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5v7y9pRK4dA0NWbCNBMJJRE2gmHCDgTA5eS_DGAp4WVQmUu9gsuXLtdSuhS1NVgbq9mbkr_Ee6efsY9myvnRzFO5B4RkyHWtlZGNsegWTLVeqTYxdjz2tJGybhtTQz9o35PAouUjFTs7n/s1600/IMG_2427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5v7y9pRK4dA0NWbCNBMJJRE2gmHCDgTA5eS_DGAp4WVQmUu9gsuXLtdSuhS1NVgbq9mbkr_Ee6efsY9myvnRzFO5B4RkyHWtlZGNsegWTLVeqTYxdjz2tJGybhtTQz9o35PAouUjFTs7n/s1600/IMG_2427.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tried taking a picture of both children on Christmas Eve by the Christmas tree, but this is the best I could get due to the fact that Haddon doesn't stay still.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Amaia had a very "Frozen" Christmas this year, as I am sure many other little girls did :) She is always so enamored by high heel shoes and wears mine just about every opportunity she gets, so I got her some of her own.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She was also gifted this ice castle. I did not even know she had such an attention span, but this is quite literally all she has done for the past 2 or 3 days.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't get any good pictures, but Haddon had a very truck Christmas! He was gifted a fancy blue truck and can't put it down either. He now walks around holding his doggy and truck basically everywhere he goes. We are going to have to get him a man bag soon, because he just doesn't have enough hands for all his treasures that he insists upon carrying around with him! I love how much of a boy he is becoming. My boys are so handsome.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My sister and her husband flew out to visit us this year and my children very much enjoyed seeing them and playing with them while they were here. Here are Amaia and Aunt Jessica at the Americana.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We had a great week of seeing family and celebrating this past week and now I am so ready to meet this baby!! I'm still wishing for a New Year's eve baby, but trying to enjoy the last days or weeks as a family of 4.</div>

I still think of Haddon as my baby, but I guess it is time for me to change that because he is a big 2 year old now! And also we have a real baby joining the family in the near future :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided with Amaia that we would play the 2 year birthday very low key, because let's be honest at 2 years old the party is still more for myself than the birthday boy. Thus, we had some family over for dinner and birthday treats, opened gifts and enjoyed our little, big guy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9h5RmGYKyVJPgfSg0JSslZnGoqvlQkhVtLMcrWoTjBVu5mlQDfI5JeLW7e4aBZ54qS9qeP6hKTSJhUY3pbq3diuhUOxewlNbE1RkIOyIZBMMKtpj6gmvLHPZF2Sl2qZ5_-nRoBZSYnQPA/s1600/IMG_2324.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9h5RmGYKyVJPgfSg0JSslZnGoqvlQkhVtLMcrWoTjBVu5mlQDfI5JeLW7e4aBZ54qS9qeP6hKTSJhUY3pbq3diuhUOxewlNbE1RkIOyIZBMMKtpj6gmvLHPZF2Sl2qZ5_-nRoBZSYnQPA/s1600/IMG_2324.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haddon is very into trains or "choo-choos" as he calls them, so we went with a Thomas cookie cake. I didn't know that it would come with a toy train on it, but this became quite possibly his favorite gift of the night. Go figure! Proof that kids don't need much in the way of fancy toys.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFQwnk8EYh0Cf59uUxbPrz84veAaSbifsuwY-w09ukeojmrhOoU75GKOsjhkx_uB3C9JxDCiiQPQ0GKeUfd4d0jqGBgi07lpJIDyiTDt8ngbGDBqA55jMLpbzeeX3XaJ7kKfY2UJl2sDD7/s1600/IMG_2275.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFQwnk8EYh0Cf59uUxbPrz84veAaSbifsuwY-w09ukeojmrhOoU75GKOsjhkx_uB3C9JxDCiiQPQ0GKeUfd4d0jqGBgi07lpJIDyiTDt8ngbGDBqA55jMLpbzeeX3XaJ7kKfY2UJl2sDD7/s1600/IMG_2275.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our gift to the birthday boy was a basketball hoop and I do believe it was a hit! With his long fingers and good grip I do believe he has the makings of a basketball player one of these days, so we are starting the training now.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihEDkvanZ95LANIZxbottJrJNNZgPZ9Rk5GA2Uc033E5450QEU04k8Af9fltrvHLxUv-bAUXt7GjrADaeeC5SPVdlk1dr2GIHLvHcj5a9TwyPl3sK3qcZIpkCpH-KEbjn1emquDe7RQZ2f/s1600/IMG_2311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihEDkvanZ95LANIZxbottJrJNNZgPZ9Rk5GA2Uc033E5450QEU04k8Af9fltrvHLxUv-bAUXt7GjrADaeeC5SPVdlk1dr2GIHLvHcj5a9TwyPl3sK3qcZIpkCpH-KEbjn1emquDe7RQZ2f/s1600/IMG_2311.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And now, quite possibly for my own memory keeping only some things I want to remember about Haddon at 2 years old!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haddon is often stubborn and wants to do things on his own, but he is also the sweetest, most cuddly kid and he melts my heart. He is always willing to give our hugs and kisses and often when we are having an eating or diaper change meltdown he ends it by saying "hug" and reaching out for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haddon loves cars and trucks and trains. It must be innate boy thing, because I don't think I ever really encouraged this, but he loves them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haddon loves his puppy. He always looking for and hugging and cuddling with his puppy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haddon is now a walking machine! He started walking at about 20 months and is fast, fast, fast. He can also walk up and down the stairs holding onto something. We went to the doctor on his birthday and he is now 27 pounds, which is the 35% - yea!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haddon in an independent man, he always wants to do things on his own and his own way. He has a good amount of words right now, but not a lot of phrases. However, his most used phrase is "I do it" and typically does not want help, I'm so looking forward to seeing the strong man he will become.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijyK-3PdZl1zjcLtEkONqMePVuKwNbuLmzCj5bJZo4e7At1XLzkZAX882AknZDxBlVk-iFrn2Mfwqh3m9zYGq8FqXmeoE0YpQbheKzI_L2YvBo3Gk78FSidLiSbFZffqqA2Mg4xwrQf7d9/s1600/IMG_2140.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijyK-3PdZl1zjcLtEkONqMePVuKwNbuLmzCj5bJZo4e7At1XLzkZAX882AknZDxBlVk-iFrn2Mfwqh3m9zYGq8FqXmeoE0YpQbheKzI_L2YvBo3Gk78FSidLiSbFZffqqA2Mg4xwrQf7d9/s1600/IMG_2140.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I get farther along in my pregnancy I am becoming more and more sentimental and in semi-depression (kidding ;)) that my favorite girl is no longer a baby or even toddler - she is a full fledged big girl! I can NOT believe how quickly the last almost 4 years have gone and I want to remember just what she was like as a little girl, so.....here is all about Amaia at approximately 3.75 years of age!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is a total girly girl. I don't know if I did this or if it's just who she is, but princesses, dress up, high heels is what she is all about these days. She wears my high heels about a million times more often than I do these days and turns every blanket and towel into a dress. I think she just enjoys feeling beautiful and don't we all :) We did have a phase in which she had a total emotional breakdown every day that I would not allow her to wear a dress, but I kind of put my foot down on that and thankfully I think we are mostly over that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Amaia is an amazing big sister. Of course Haddon and her have their moments, but for the most part she amazes me with how kind and wonderful she is to him. They are really beginning to play a lot more with each other and laugh with each other and it's pretty much favorite thing in the whole world. She "reads" him books, plays and shares with him so well and helps me so much. They have a "game" that they play right now in the bathtub, in which she tells Haddon to tell her a joke, he leans forward and jabbers something incomprehensible to me and then they both erupt in laughter and they do this over and over again. It's pretty much the cutest thing ever. We talk often about her baby sister and I have a feeling she is going to love holding her and having someone new to play with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is amazing at puzzles. I am often amazed at how smart she is and I don't really know what is normal for her age, but she loves doing puzzles and does a 48 piece puzzle right now in 5 minutes or less. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She also loves books and I think she is ready to learn to read - yikes! I am a bit intimidated by that, but I think that will be our project this winter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She loves her friends! At one time I thought she was going to be shy like her momma, but I am not so sure anymore. She still typically takes a few minutes to warm up to new people or situations, but after that she is good to go. She loves her friends at church and plays so well with them. She is so friendly when we are out and about running errands, saying hi to just about every worker. Makes me feel good about giving her another lifetime friend/sister very soon :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I feel so lucky to have Amaia as my daughter. I could not imagine a better girl to spend my days with!</div>

I'm so behind on this blog I don't know where to start! My absolute favorite season is fall and it feels like it is nearly over now. We had a busy one, but a really fun one. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To kick the fall season off, we went to a cute little farm and picked apples one beautiful morning. Amaia was great apple picker, but I do think her favorite part was getting lemonade after we were done.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Myself and a couple other moms started a little preschool group for our 3 year olds and it has been so much fun. We take turns hosting and planning activities for the day and Amaia loves it. She adores getting to hang out with her friends and it has been a really fun way for me to start getting more serious about learning activities too.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We went to the zoo nearly every Sunday morning. I don't think I would be out of line saying the zoo is Amaia's favorite place to go, so we go a lot. She loves feeding the goats and basically walking around like she owns the place. Also new this fall she loves gift shops! Ha. I wonder where she got that from?? ;)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We went a family trip to see Adam's parents new home at Lake Tablerock, which is beautiful in the fall. We got out on the boat a few times and did a lot of other fun activities. Adam got to pet a lemur at the zoo we went to and we celebrated 6 years of marriage. It was the perfect trip and we are already looking forward to going back again soon.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Back at the zoo! We went to Night Eyes at the zoo again this year. I love this event for little kids. Amaia was Elsa this year and Haddon was Charlie Brown. I originally wanted them to be something that coordinated together, but the days of Amaia not caring about her costumes or clothing choices in general and far behind us now :) Amaia loved seeing all the other girls dressed up at Elsa and the candy of course.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqnYNduBC24aAGnrz_kzI1EGl0n-xf_2Eq4HoPnAQERCBy1mPXul0DaWI4XbX30r_7HqCUx9ixhMCVuxr4OLjw1X7Uc9D5XgY4n-p-_2meDAATgexkmhLMIXxR_px5hvGOUxgmMY3RfO2L/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqnYNduBC24aAGnrz_kzI1EGl0n-xf_2Eq4HoPnAQERCBy1mPXul0DaWI4XbX30r_7HqCUx9ixhMCVuxr4OLjw1X7Uc9D5XgY4n-p-_2meDAATgexkmhLMIXxR_px5hvGOUxgmMY3RfO2L/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" height="321" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And here are my little cutie pies on Beggar's night. I decided that Haddon needed to be Charlie Brown this year, because he just looks the part. If you are wondering why there are so few pictures of Haddon this fall, it is partly because this picture of him smiling and looking at the camera is Halloween miracle AND partly because he is pro-walker now and my boy is fast. <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh and I'm still pregnant! This is me at 28 weeks and trying to remember to document this pregnancy too! This time around has definitely been the hardest on my body, but we are making it through! :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We found out that this baby girl has a similar hole in her heart to what Haddon had when he was born. It came to us as a definite surprise, but we are praying lots of our little girl and trusting the Lord. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can tell that Amaia is excited about having a baby sister. We talk about her and pray for her often and the kids almost always go the midwife appointments with me so they have playing "doctor" a lot and checking on the baby for me. I kind of can't wait for January to be here, but I'm excited to celebrate the holidays with our family without the demands of a newborn too :)</div>

I am officially half way done with this pregnancy!!!! Last week we got to experience my favorite part of pregnancy (other than when it's over and we actually get to meet our baby) - the ultrasound! I LOVE ultrasounds! It puts into perspective all the discomfort and annoyances of pregnancy and reminds me that there is an amazing fully formed life growing inside of me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This year I came across the idea that Adam would be the only one to find out the gender at the ultrasound and could be the only one to know for a little while until we all found out. Well he kind of loved the idea. I did slightly regret coming up with the idea the day of, but I'm glad it was fun for him. The next morning we had some family over and ate filled cupcakes to reveal the gender. Chocolate chip cupcakes with an actual cookie in the bottom to be exact, which were amazing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pink filling = baby girl!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjajZkdzkLRwmZq7wax2wDza2M7sVnnEDaHIZNfETZ8brPscp74HRD16RvaI8CKRZaO25h3BIar4jsU7iT29XToN2TXa848RlRQJBbSR68sFx-8GgccMPEQ9VfnoCMQiZeIfowui9gI1TBQ/s1600/photo-10.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjajZkdzkLRwmZq7wax2wDza2M7sVnnEDaHIZNfETZ8brPscp74HRD16RvaI8CKRZaO25h3BIar4jsU7iT29XToN2TXa848RlRQJBbSR68sFx-8GgccMPEQ9VfnoCMQiZeIfowui9gI1TBQ/s1600/photo-10.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We are having another little girl and I am SO excited! I could really see the benefit of having a boy or girl. However, Amaia has been hoping very much for a sister and I am so excited to give her one! I guess we will just have to give it another try to give Haddon a brother :)</div>

I have never been much of a state fair enthusiast. I enjoy the food, but other than that could never see the appeal, but everything changes when you have children :) Amaia thoroughly enjoyed her fair experience which made Adam and I thoroughly enjoy ourselves as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We visited a few different booths in the varied industries building and made sure to stock up on Hawkeye tattoos for football season. After that we partook in some mini donuts, visited all the baby animals and then visited the little hands on the farm area, where she got to walk through the full farming experience. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Picking lots of veggies.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We found a familiar face on our route through the farm </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I was so proud of my newly picky eater for choosing an apple (amongst candy, crackers, and fruit snacks) as her treat of choice at the end.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
After that Amaia and Adam rode on the Yee Old Mill and then we basically ate our way out of the fair. Haddon was there too! He didn't have quite the full experience as Amaia did, as large animals seem to scare him at this point in his life, but he absolutely enjoyed the food!</div>

Amaia and Haddon are pleased to announce that they have a brand new baby sister or brother of the way!! Actually, Haddon has no idea what is going on at this point, but the rest of us are very excited! Amaia is hoping for a sister, mostly based on her love of Frozen I think and she thinks we should name her future sister "Block", which is definitely not happening :)<br />
<br />
I am 13 weeks along now and my official due date is January 13th! I have been feeling VERY tired and somewhat sick for a couple of months now, but I can tell that I am starting to have a lot more good days than bad days. Oh how I love the second trimester!<br />
<br />
We were able to have an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago to date the pregnancy and just make sure everything was going well. Amaia and Haddon came with and it really seemed to click with Amaia after that what was going on. She asks all the time now if she can see the pictures of the baby and when we get to find out if the baby is a boy or girl. I love ultrasounds anyways, but I loved even more how it made her understand so much more what is going on with her mommy. <br />

We are so excited to have another little baby in our family and I'm also so excited to give these two precious kiddos another sibling to play with and be crazy with for the rest of their lives!Kristyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18327393579083833282noreply@blogger.com0
