Halfway Room Redo's

Amaia is on her way to becoming a big girl and so is her room!  We have made a few changes to her room over the past couple weeks, so I thought I would share.

First, she got a new dresser and we picked out some different knobs to up the cuteness factor a bit :)  The knobs were a great deal from hobby lobby.  Only about $10 for all of them - very worth it in my opinion!  Please excuse her curtains that I still have not ironed :)

The other side of her room will eventually have a big girl bed and some sort of side table or storage, but I haven't decided what I want to do and she isn't quite ready for a big girl bed.  I know that Amaia loves blankets and pillows.  When we are playing in the living room she loves to get out all the blankets and pillows and lay on them, jump on them, etc. So I improvised with a little blanket/pillow/toy corner in the hopes that she would like it during our little transitional period.

She loves to lounge around with all of her books.  All of the sesame street character books are in heavy rotation.

She also loves to have easy access to all her stuffed animal friends.  She is soooo generous with hugs and kisses for all her animals lately.  It's basically the sweetest thing ever.  

As you can see by her facial expression, she is very concerned that her loved ones are well loved.  She is going to make a great big sis.

Lil' man's room is coming together too.  It is nothing fancy or well decorated by any means, but all the pieces are there and it soothes my pregnant soul to feel semi-ready.

The chair will be switched out with the comfy recliner that is currently in Amaia's room upon his arrival.  I did a bit of crafting and made the elephant banners in the corner.  We still need a lamp, curtains, and a few other random things, so it is certainly a work in progress!

Lil' man will sleep in the bassinet for a little while until Amaia is ready to give him the crib.

Our hallway got an addition too.  After 20 months, I finally framed my "push" present aka. the print that my sweet husband gave me at Amaia's birth.  He says she looks like me :)  I only put it off so long because it is so expensive to custom frame!  I'm so glad that I get to see it every day now though.

It feels so good to continue to make our house feel more and more like our home :)

Fall-ifying & a To Do List

Ohhh how I love fall!  I am thoroughly enjoying the cooler air, pumpkin spice lattes, candles, football and I could go on and on.  

I don't have a lot in the way of fall decor, but the pumpkins have been hung with care....

The wheat is out...

And a fall wreath is on the door....

The fall bug has also hit in the kitchen.  I don't bake often at all, but pumpkin muffins have made an appearance and I am excited for it to be time for spaghetti squash season again.  I also want to try butternut squash this year.  Does anyone have a good recipe?  Oh and I really, really want to go buy a jar of nutella, but my self-control with nutella is not good, so I am resisting....for now :)

A rather large part of my fall to do list this year consists of getting my house and mind ready to have a sweet little boy enter our family, but there are a few other things I want to make sure to do this fall too:

• Take Amaia to a pumpkin farm and become the mamarazzi
• Finger paint a pumpkin with Amaia
• Visit the zoo with Amaia and again become the mamarazzi
• Go on a babymoon/celebrate 4 years of marriage!

Mid-Summer Mish Mash

Wow!  I cannot believe that is already mid-June and I cannot believe that my baby girl is almost 17 months old!!  She is a crazy and sweet little lady and I love her so much!! My girl is very courageous, an explorer, LOVES her dolly and doggies, gives hugs and kisses and is a busy girl all day long.  I have been very bad at remembering to take pictures and blog lately.  My excuse is that it is not easy to take pictures of miss Amaia as she always on the move, but I guess that is just an excuse so I better just get better :)

However, I have entered the land of smart phones (yea!), which means I have random pictures from my phone!

Celebrating the 4th!  We had a great day which included a parade, surf and turf lunch with Aunt Ashley, naps, our church's talent show and fireworks.  The parade was crazy town and was 100+ degrees!  Amaia seemed like she could take it or leave it, so we decided next year maybe we should check out a small town parade.

A few weeks ago I noticed that Amaia was very close to growing out of her infant car seat, so it was time for a big girl car seat.  She does not look nearly as small in it as I thought she would :)  I love, love, love bring able to turn around to grab her little toes and see her.

Amaia had corn on the cob for the first time this week and I was so impressed with her skills.  The girl barely has eight teeth and can eat corn on the cob just as easily as me.

I could not get a very good picture, but we got new curtains!!  I LOVE them! We had some panels up in front of our patio doors before, but they were almost exactly the same color as our walls and I have wanted to change them basically since we put them up - ha!  My friend Julie and I have great husbands who sent us on a weekend shopping trip with no kiddos a few weeks ago.  I should write an entire post about our weekend, but it was wonderful!  Amaia didn't miss a beat without me and it was great to just be a girl and friend for a few days :)  But I digress....we visited IKEA and I took that opportunity to get some quite affordable new curtains.

Fall in Our Home

Have I mentioned that I LOOOOOOOVE fall.  I love the open windows and cool air, I love wearing layers and scarves, I love pumpkin spiced lattes, apple cider, apple cake, candles, being cozy on the couch....i even get excited about football season.  Now if only the weather would remember that it is fall :)

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins!

 Sqaush, nutella (with cinnamon graham crackers!), lasagna, tea, candy corn and of course pumpkin all speak of fall to me.  I am semi-obsessed with this new Kashi cereal and I also should have included apples in this picture.  I tried a honeycrisp apple and a sweet tango apple for the first time this year.  I know everyone loves honeycrisp, but the sweet tango was about 1,000,000 times better in my opinion.  So good!

A Few of My Favorite Things

1. My pretty, pretty princess!  

 2. Being crafty!!  I have always had the inner urge to be crafty, but to be honest it doesn't usually turn out super well for me.  This time though I think I actually made something cute.  And it feels great to have something springy up on such a cold, rainy day.

3. Sleep!  Amaia started sleeping through the night this week.  Hallelujah!  I hope that I am not jinxing anything by writing this, but she slept 7-8 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday night.  We took a step back and only slept 6 hours last night, but I still feel like a new woman.  Maybe babywise really is working.

4. Birthday shoes!  So....my birthday was almost 3 months ago, but I just got around to spending some birthday money.  They are so comfy (and cute of course).  Good mom shoes I guess.

5. Last but certainly not least, my wonderful husband!!  He surprised me with an ipod touch this week.  My old one gave way a month or so a go so I was so excited!  Plus, he was frugal about it - a man after my own heart.

Finishing Touches

I put up my poof balls!!  Well, really Adam put them up,  while I sat in the chair and watched.   He told me all he needed me to do was sit there and look pretty, so that is what I did :)
I also received the most wonderful gift this weekend.  My grandma had a quilt made for our baby girl and I LOVE the way it turned out!  I think it is about the most beautiful thing I have ever received.  These pictures don't do it justice at all.

I went to the doctor again this week, but no major progress.   She has moved down a little bit more in the past week and is still in the head down position (yea!!) but the doctor said she still thought it would be awhile.   I think she should stay put for awhile.  There is quite the blizzard outside tonight and I figure the farther away from cold and flu season we can get the better!

Nursery Pictures!

Well I figured that since I am now considered full term I should probably get little miss' nursery put together :)  So I did work on that this weekend and even took some pictures on my new camera!!

I still need to make my paper tissue balls...that might sound weird, but I don't know what else to call them.  Just know that they will be colorful and girly and will hang above the crib.

In other news I went to doctor today and I am 1 cm. dialated!! 9 more to go :)

Nursery Inspiration

The starting point for our nursery decor...

I like this because it is for sure girly, BUT the colors are pretty neutral, so most of the things I am using I can use for future children, regardless of gender.  Should our girl be born tonight her room is functional, but none of the fun stuff is done yet.  I need Adam's help to put up shelves, a mirror, etc. on the walls and I am still on the hunt for a lamp.  I am a little frugal aka. cheap though, so that might take a little while.  Lamps are more expensive than I thought!
